Product Review: J'adore Dior

I loved this perfume as soon as I smelt it, it is gorgeous. I was so pleased when I opened it on Christmas Eve from my boyfriend and couldn't wait to wear it!

What they say:

"The story of the Eau de Toilette is written around flower essences.
Each essence is obtained through distillation, the Haute Parfumerie procedure that reveals the lavish, radiant and delicate facet of each flower.
Yellow Mandarin essence from Italy, Damask Rose essence and Neroli essence converge in precise harmony. Pride of place is reserved for orange blossom, the white flower that provides Neroli essence.
This luminous flower is hand picked in sunny Tunisian orchards, adding a note of subtlety, sophistication and elegance to the fragrance.
Woody with a hint of vanilla, the base note adds character to the scent of J'Adore Eau de Toilette"

What I say:

As I say, I love this perfume. The bottle is gorgeous and looks great on my cabinet. The fragrance is so feminine and makes me feel like I have been totally pampered, even if I have been having a hectic day with Cameron. The scent reminds me of having a really luxurious bath and I always feel fresh and girly when I have it on. I am no perfume expert but I definitely think this is an amazing fragrance, and I will be buying/begging for another bottle once this one is all used up!

New Years Eve Eve!

So tomorrow is New Years Eve and I am so excited, not that I am doing much for it, just a nice gathering at my mum's with some yummy food and wine, but because I love the chance a new year gives you to make a fresh start.

I have already written a long list of 'resolutions', which aren't really resolutions but things I want to achieve throughout the year ahead. I will share these with you on New Years Day.

I hope you all have a great time celebrating and seeing in 2012!

Beautiful Lashes

I just wanted to do a quick post about a present I got for Christmas as I was so impressed! I asked my mum to get me a set of fake lashes off eBay as I was getting fed up of paying £5 for each set in the shops. I researched and found a set I liked the look of which were only £2.50 for 20 sets! There are two styles in the set: ten 'everyday' and ten 'night' ones.

On Christmas day I wore the night ones and they were amazing.

They feel so much nicer than the Eyelure ones I usually use, are thicker and easier to apply (though I did get the Eyelure lash glue as I heard bad things about the glues on eBay). Loved them!

I haven't tried the everyday lashes yet but will definitely be getting more of these lashes, for half the price of one Eyelure set you get 20 sets! Amazing value!

Product Reviews: Soap and Glory: Shower Products

As you may have seen in a recent post, I was one of the many people who got the Soap and Glory bumper set for Christmas and I have fallen in love! Rather than doing tonnes of individual reviews I have decided to group them, starting with Shower essentials: Clean on Me shower cream, Pulp Friction body scrub and The Righteous Butter Body Butter.

Clean on Me Shower Cream 500ml

What they say:

"Soft, smooth, sexy skin whenever you want it. Contains natural mandarin peel extract and a bonus built-in body lotion. Scented with our Original Pink™ fragrance.

Instructions for Use:

Apply a handful to damp skin, rub it into a thick, luxurious lather, and then rinse thoroughly"

What I say:

I have actually used this shower cream before as I have previously had it and I am not blown away by it to be honest. The smell is lovely and it will leave you feeling like you have definitely been pampered as the cream gives a nice softness to your skin that you don't get with every shower gel. However, as shower gels go, I have had better, and I would not have been impressed with this if I had bought it on its own. You really need to pump it a good few times to get enough out to use for your entire body and I can see myself getting annoyed when in a rush wasting precious time pumping a little out at a time. Not that impressed.

Pulp Friction Body Scrub 250ml

What they say:

"Get fresher, smoother and softer skin with fig powder, pumice, peppermint oil, lemonade tree liquid, orange waterjuice™ and vitaminballs™ (A,C,E). Scented with our new Fruitigo™ fragrance.

Instructions for Use:

Squeeze out a handful and rub it between your palms, then work it around in circles on damp skin. (You can start at your shoulders and work down, or tackle dry shins and feet before scrubbing up.) Rinse when you’re finished"

What I Say:

I have previously used two of Soap and Glory's body scrubs and had a different opinion on both. I found Scrub 'Em and Leave 'Em to be awful but Flake Away to be amazing, so I used this not really knowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised with the product. It seemed to leave my skin a lot smoother and acted as a brilliant prep for my fake tan, without feeling too harsh on my sensitive skin. Unlike the brand's other scrubs, this one also came in a tube rather than a tub which I preferred as it meant I used less product and didn't end up getting loads of water in the tub as well! The only down side I could find was the rather manly smell this product has. It reminded me of men's shower gels or cheap aftershave (think Lynx), which was not unpleasant as such but I didn't really intend on smelling like a man when coming out of the shower... Other than that though, a great product and I would buy again as it does what it says on the tin and then some.

The Righteous Butter Body Butter 300ml

What they say:

"Award winning body butter with softening shea butter and aloe vera. Smooth on a handful after your shower and you might swear you're wearing velvet. Scented with our Original Pink™ fragrance.

Instructions for Use:

After showering or bathing, smooth a generous handful of The Righteous Butter onto damp skin and massage lightly until it all sinks in"

What I say

This is another product that I have previously used and I love it! It has a similar scent to the shower gel, is nice and thick and creamy, goes on without too much excess grease and just does exactly what you want a body butter to do! I know some people rave about more expensive brands of moisturisers but to be honest I don't see why. This retails at £10.21 for a 300ml tub and it lasts and lasts. I love it and can not fault it. Perfect for making dry skin feel nice and soft and for smoothing skin in preparation for fake tanning. I was very pleased to find this product in my Big Splendour set!

Did you get the set for Christmas? Are you a Soap and Glory fan?

My Christmas! (Photo Heavy)

Sorry I haven't blogged in a few days but I have had some lovely time off catching up with family and doing some visiting over Christmas. I hope you all had an amazing time and are all looking forward to seeing in the New Year this weekend!

My Christmas started Christmas Eve when my family came down from Kent. My aunt came over my mum's and we went for some last minute shopping. In the evening we had a yummy curry and some wine and my boyfriend came over and gave me and Cameron our Christmas presents. I got the perfume I really really wanted J'adore Dior, and Cameron got his two Harrods teddies my boyfriend had bought him when we went to London at the beginning of the month. He loves the white one best and won't go to sleep without it- cute!

Cameron (dressed as an elf!) on Christmas Eve

Christmas morning I woke up majorly early but refused to get up until 8. I made bacon sandwiches and bucks fizz and we had a nice chilled out breakfast before turning up the Christmas music and opening the pressies!

Cooking bacon!

Opening the champagne

Me and Cameron both got spoilt. I am so pleased with what I got! Cameron's favourite present was his cleaning up set- a broom and dustpan and brush- strange boy!

Opening pressies

My pressies- spoilt!

After the wrapping paper was all cleared away, I got Cameron dressed and he was picked up by his dad so he could open even more pressies over his house! I used the time he was gone to get all 'faked' up, putting in my hair extensions, doing my makeup and putting my false lashes on. I make a big effort on Christmas day. I wore my favourite leather look leggings, black vest top and new burgundy crop top which I got from my mum which says Love It on it. I do love it!

All dressed up for Christmas!

When Cameron got back from his dad's, we went to pick up my nan and went for a lovely, albeit cold and windy, walk by the sea to visit my grandad's bench and put some artificial flowers on it. I really miss my grandad, especially at this time of year as he loved Christmas and spending it with family, and he passed away ten years ago this December, so the walk was a bit bittersweet.

Back over my nan's with all the family we opened some more presents and had some champagne before dinner which was delicious!

Christmas Dinner mmmm

It was nice not having to cook for once and my aunt did amazingly! After dinner we hung out watching TV and playing games for the rest of the day and night, as well as eating even more yummy food. Perfect!

Two of my favourite presents- a ring and bracelet from my nan

with my cousin Aaron (aka Joey Essex)

At half nine we went back over my mum's, Cameron went to bed and I watched Michael McIntyre on TV with a glass of wine and some festive pretzels (star shaped). Great end to a great day!

On Boxing day I had a really nice relaxed day, pampering and watching films with my mum and Cameron. We watched Goodnight Mr Tom, Bugsy Malone and Emma before I could not resist the sales any longer and went off to have a look for some bargains whilst my mum kindly looked after Cameron. I bought a few bits and got a great shopping buzz. In the evening we all went over to my nan's again along with my boyfriend, and had a yummy buffet.

On the 27th, my mum and nan went off to Newcastle to visit my brother and his girlfriend. I am gutted I couldn't go, but the last couple of days I have spent relaxing, spending time with my boyfriend and Cameron and sales shopping. Today we went to visit my boyfriend's family in Chichester which was lovely and after I had driven back this evening I was knackered so have had a relaxing night in front of a film with all the leftover Christmas chocolates and biscuits, bliss!

Twas the Night Before Christmas...

....Well, ok it is not night yet, but how excited are you that it is Christmas Eve?!

I am incredibly excited today. I have been going between being over excited to not feeling festive at all over the last week or so but today I am determined to keep my Christmas spirit!

I am having a lazy morning, listening to Christmas music in bed and then getting my pamper on for a bit. A Muppet Christmas Carol is on the agenda at midday and then I am seeing the boyfriend at some point too.

I hope that you all have a fantastic Christmas and get all you want!

Lots of Love to all my readers/follwers

Emma-Louise (aka Yummy Mummy) and Cameron xxx

My Best Friend the TV Star!

A few months ago my best friend did an internship at BBC Scotland and whilst there she auditioned for a part in a TV show which she got and the show aired last night on BBC3. The show is How Not to Live your Life and can be viewed on BBC iPlayer here.

She is in the very first scene (the blonde girl) and I am really proud of her!

12 Days of Christmas Challenge: Day 03. (Dec 23rd) Photograph your favorite Christmas decor in your tree.

This is definitely my favourite Christmas decoration. I was bought it last Christmas for Cameron's first, but then my mum accidentally broke it so we replaced it in London. I love it as it is so personal and really sweet.

My Amazing New Nails!

Yesterday afternoon in time for my Christmas meal, I had my first ever set of acrylic nails done and I could not be more pleased with them!

I have bitten my nails since I was really young and, although I recently stopped and they were ok in length, they are very weak and break easily so I loved the idea of having pretty long nails for once.

I had them done by an old friend Tish (Letitia's Nails) and she really is fantastic and so reasonably priced too! I am very impressed and will be having them done with her again in the future!

I am finding them a bit strange to get used to, even the simplest tasks are fiddly now like opening buttons and typing on my phone! However, I am in love with them and couldn't be happier. They have even made me forget how rubbish I have been feeling with this cold in the run up to Christmas! I got so many compliments last night as well, very happy girly!

Work it Baby Christmas Meal!

Last night was my exercise class Christmas meal at a lovely posh hotel in Bournemouth right by the seafront. I was a bit nervous as I didn't now anyone that well but the girls are all lovely and I soon felt at home.

The meal was lovely; I had soup followed by a turkey roast and then a very yummy but very sickly mousse dessert (it reminded me of melted marshmallow).

After we had eaten, we went up to the bar and had a chat and then got some wine and had a bit of a dance which was nice.

I got a bit drunk and had a great time, and my boyfriend came and picked me up around 11pm. All in all I had a great time and am so pleased I started attending Kirsty's classes, not only am I looking much better for it but I also got the chance to meet such lovely ladies.

Me with the founder of Work it Baby, Kirsty!
