Healthy vs Unhealthy

I feel I am living a constant battle at the moment. I am aiming to lose some weight and tone up in time for my brother's wedding at the end of May and the start of Summer, but at the same time I love food, and wine, which makes things a little harder!

I have been generally eating healthier meals lately. Ed cut out carbs so a lot of our meals have been just meat and salad or veg, which is obviously better than some of the meals I used to eat in the past, but when I eat bad foods I tend to go overboard... These are a few of my good, and not so good, and downright awful things I have been eating lately...

Steak with Salad

This is what Ed and I will eat on a Tuesday after Boxing as it is very quick and simple and pretty good for us too. We use Caesar salad but I don't like the dressing so have it plain.

Hunters Chicken

This isn't too bad, depending on how it is cooked. I have also started replacing the baked potato with sweet potato, which makes it better for you. This is usually something I will put together on a Monday night as I won't have had work and it takes a little more effort than some of the dishes I make.

Lamb Steak

This is actually a creation of Ed's. He is a much better cook than I am and this had a pear and parsnip puree, which is something I wouldn't even know where to start on. It was very yummy. Ed is good at making me try new things.

Fried Egg & Bacon Sandwich

I never used to like eggs until recently when I started having scrambled egg on toast for breakfast. Unfotunately that then changed to fried egg sandwiches, which are my current breakfast obsession, which is not good and something I am trying to get out of doing. I don't usually include Bacon as well as Egg so it's not as bad as this... but still, not good!

Baked Sweet Potato with Cheese & Chilli Dressing

I actually saw this on another blog and fell in love. I used to eat baked potato with Cheese and Tuna before Boxing but it left me feeling a bit bloated and eurgh so I started swapping it for this and it makes me feel so much better.

Chocolate dipped Strawberries

Ok, onto the truly bad stuff. I am in love with Chocolate dipped strawberries, or just chocolate in general. I try to kid myself that having the strawberries makes it better for me, but it really doesn't. Oh so yummy though!

Pancakes with Chocolate Spread and Strawberries

Ok, so I have a confession to make. I am addicted to chocolate spread. It has to be Cadbury's own brand and it can be in pancakes with strawberries, or it can be straight from the jar. It is the main reason I am not losing any of the weight I planned to, and in fact am putting more on. Not. Good! (But so amazingly tasty)

Some Further Learning

I love learning and broadening my knowledge. Since having the children and graduating from University, I feel I have neglected this a little. Working full time, I am obviously using skills and my brain to an extent, but I felt the desire to learn something new. This may be down to the fact that my boyfriend is halfway through an open university degree in Maths, which makes me feel rather stupid in comparison sometimes.

Clearly I need to exercise my brain some more!

I decided to go with a Child Psychology unit as this will help me understand my own children as well as it being Psychology, which I did at A Level and loved. I am also redoing my Children's Writing online course as I didn't get round to completing it when I started last Spring. I am looking forward to learning new things, but unsure how and when I will fit all this extra stuff in- eek!

Wish me luck!

Cameron and Carly- An Update

It seems like forever since I last did an update on the children so I thought now was as good a time as any. They have grown up so much in the last year and I am so proud of them as they grow into intelligent, headstrong, beautiful children. They are my greatest achievements.

Cameron

Cameron is now four and a half and will be going to school in September. He has been ready to go since he turned four so I am very excited for him as he is going to love it. He loves learning new things and he wants to be able to do everything and know everything so his thirst for learning is definitely there. I find out which school he will be going to next month so that is both scary and exciting. Cameron and Carly both attend nursery full time whilst I work so he has become a lot less shy over the past few months. He has his own little group of friends who he enjoys seeing and spending time with. Cameron loves Dr Who and seems to have taken after me in getting obsessed with things easily. At Christmas, everything was Dr Who, and I think he may end up having a Dr Who themed birhthday party come September. I had never watched the show before he started watching it, so it's nice to be able to see it for the first time with him.

Carly

Carly is coming up to two and a half and has such a strong character. She is a right little madam like her mother! She is very feisty but also fiercely loyal and so loving. Her language has really come on in the last couple of months and she has such a huge vocabulary now. The things she comes out with are hilarious! Carly absolutely adores nursery, as I knew she would from when Cameron used to go alone, she always tried to go in as well. She runs straight in and gets on with it each morning when she is dropped, and she is loved by everyone at the nursery. At home, Carly loves nothing more than watching Frozen and running around in the garden. She is quite a tomboy and is braver than her older brother. She is going to be very jealous of him when he goes to 'big boy school' in September.

I will try and do more regular updates on the children as I do love talking about them!

Game of Thrones Addiction

I have a new obsession... and yes, I know I am pretty late to the party on this one but I have only just been introduced to this amazing show by my boyfriend and now I can't get enough. Which is fine, for now, as I have been overdosing on episodes in an aim to catch up before series 5 begins on 13th April. However, I know that after series 5 ends I am going to have serious withdrawal symptoms having to wait along with everyone else for the next series, which I'm also told is going to be the last (please say it isn't so)?

Having only started watching it a couple of weeks ago, I am now averaging 3 episodes a night and am two episodes into series 4. Of course I knew a couple of things that happened, largely due to my Facebook obsession and the fact that fans of the show had been posting back when it was aired on TV, but overall I have been able to watch it without huge spoilers.

My favourite characters are Daenerys and Tyrion and my obsession has become so bad that I even did one of those online quizzes to see which character I am and was annoyed to have got Cersei rather than Daenerys (I also made Ed do it and he came out with Jon Snow).

So yes, I am fully addicted to the show now and cannot wait to finish series 4 and to be able to watch series 5 along with everyone else in a couple of weeks time. Very excited (and I don't care how sad that makes me)!

Where in the World...

I love going on holiday. Unfortunately working full time with two young children this isn't that easy. But a girl can dream...

These are the top ten holiday destinations I would love to be jetting off to:

1. Santorini

Greek islands in general look pretty lovely but there's something about Santorini which just makes it look so bloody gorgeous I want to be there right this second. When I feel low I look at beautiful pictures of this place. I will go there very soon!

2. New York

I have wanted to go here for a few years now and haven't managed to yet. I want to go just before Christmas, as it looks even more magical and amazing then. The only problem is, this is when it's A. really, really expensive and B. totally busy.

3. Antigua

Ever since I watched Pirates of the Caribbean I have wanted to go here. It looks beautiful but oh so expensive and far, far away!

4. The Maldives

Another beautiful location and somewhere I MUST go to before I die. It is true paradise.

5. Canada

Technically I've been here before but it is somewhere I would love to go to again. I would like to explore more as well as so far I have only been to Vancouver Island where my aunt and uncle live. Totally amazing place.

6. Italy

I am not specific, I just really want to go to Italy. Any part. It just looks cool.

7. L.A

My mum's cousin lives here and I love how it looks. I have been told I wouldn't like it there but I think I would. Although maybe this is a feeling I got from watching too many chick flicks....

8. Egypt

No real explanation other than it looks amazing and I might finally get to ride my camel I've been wanting to ride!

9. Lapland

I want to take the children to meet Santa (and I totally want to meet him too!). Looks so cold but such a truly wonderful experience!

10. Mexico

I love Mexican food. This is the home of Mexican food. I could fall in love with this place a little!

25 Reasons You Know You've Reached Your Quarter-Life Crisis

Turning 25 for me wasn't a huge deal, and I've been somewhat calm about it for the past 10 months. But now, with just 6 weeks to go until I turn 26, I'm starting to panic a little. That's only 4 years until the big 3-0, eek! Ok, so having a boyfriend who will be 40 in just over the same amount of time does make it a tiny bit easier but still... There are some things I've only really noticed since turning 25 last May.

1. You start exercising. And not just attending that class once a week that kind of makes you feel like you can justify eating a pizza and a 'sharing' bag of chocolate buttons when you get back home. When did it start becoming so hard to keep the weight off? Damn you slowing metabolism!

2. You start to make an effort with your skincare. Although I am pretty good at taking my makeup off each night (although not when I'm in the first few weeks of a new relationship), I've not really bothered with anything more than a quick face wipe and moisturiser. Lately I've been thinking I need to add some more steps to my routine and maybe even go down the anti-ageing skincare route...

3. You start caring about nutrition and healthy eating. And no, I'm not talking the latest fad diet. I'm talking proper science stuff in order to try and fight off the pitfalls of that damn slowing metabolism. I've ordered Cameron Diaz's body book, which has amazing reviews so I'm hoping a read of that will equal her body? Crossing my fingers on that one...

4. You start actually craving sleep. Like, you'll wake up wishing you could go back to sleep, dream about sleeping all day long and then when you're back home from work, you get into bed as soon as physically possible. Since when did turning a quarter of a century equal stockpiling on sleep?

5. You start thinking about the future and wishing you had a proper savings account, you know with more than a couple of hundred quid in it, and regret not taking part in the pension scheme at work, and thinking maybe it's about time you got yourself a mortgage and sensible things like life insurance and a will. When did life become so serious?

6. You go out in town and feel like your mum. Why are there so many teenagers around wearing barely any clothes? Surely you weren't out clubbing that young? Surely you didn't dress like that? And why do they have to make you feel so bloody old next to them?

7. You begin to favour CDs to the radio on your daily commute. A sing along to Bat out of Hell beats random chart songs I've never heard of hands down. Bonus points for saying things like 'music was so much better when I was younger'

8. You start shopping for clothes in places like Next rather than River Island and Top Shop. It just starts becoming too hard to pull off the latest trend alongside those teenagers you're in town next to.

9. Your supermarket trolley starts looking all sensible- fresh meat, vegetables, eggs, yoghurts, cheese, even sweet potatoes! Once your trolley stops resembling the menu for a kids party you are officially an adult.

10. You find yourself ordering wine, or even better, Prosecco, with your meal. You can totally act sophisticated whilst eating your pasta.

11. Your house is filled with candles. There may even be Pot Pourri in your bathroom. And you secretly love shopping for things for the house, sometimes more than clothes shopping.

12. You've actually started working on your pelvic floor, rather than just saying you're going to.

13. You own blankets/a throw, a onesie, fluffy socks/slippers or big fluffy dressing gown or all of the above and are not ashamed to put these on, in the house, as soon as you get home from work.

14. You enjoy nothing more than a nice long walk in the country, followed by a meal and a glass of wine in a cosy country pub with your partner.

15. You read your teenage diary and cringe. And then cringe some more. What. Were. You. Thinking??

16. You're no longer embarrassed to do a pee sample, buy a pregnancy test, take a trip to the GUM clinic, have a smear test or buy condoms.

17. You can remember things like butterfly clips, Keenan and Kel, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Goosebumps, Jaqueline Wilson books, Pokémon cards, Bewitched and Aqua. And miss these simpler times. Ahh growing up in the 90's...

18. You have at some point in you life owned a Spice Girls branded item of clothing. And may still own it. And may now be considering pulling it out and seeing if it will still fit (FYI- it won't).

19. You've started counting down the years/months/days until you turn 30... And despite being concerned about it, you've planned your celebrations down to the last detail. Even though it's still 1507 days away...

20. You can't quite get over the fact that the child film and TV stars you grew up with are now in their 30's and no longer resemble the cute faces from back then.

21. You start craving holidays, almost as much as you crave chocolate spread on pancakes.

22. You go out at the weekend and are still recovering by Wednesday.

23. On said night out you find yourself feeling like going to bed at 11.30pm. You may even catch yourself yawning. Staying out until the early hours feels like actual torture and trying to function on a few hours broken sleep will probably be the second biggest mistake you made, the first being the late night subway you ate on the way to the taxis.

24. You become obsessed with social media, in particular checking to see what stage the people you went to school with are in their lives. So, Jenny from Psychology is married with two kids now... And the guy you had a crush on in Business Studies owns his own successful business... Why am I not at that stage yet?

25. You realise that you're halfway to 50 and a quarter of the way to 100, if you even make it that far. And you have a little panic/cry/hyperventilation session.

Run, Forest, Run!

You know when you have wake up and have a really good hair day and then you go for a morning run with your boyfriend and totally ruin it? That was me this morning. Well, at 5.30am, which can't even really be described as morning.

Forcing myself out of bed was so hard but so worth it. Last Wednesday he made me do a 10k. Which, no joke, almost killed me. I could barely walk for days! This time we did just under 6k, which was much more manageable, but still bloody tough!

I'm really proud of myself though, not just for actually getting up and exercising before work, but for managing to go the distance and train. I want to be able to run a 10k race at some point in the not so far future so running like this will really help make that more achievable.

I'm really grateful to Ed as well for pushing me, for not letting me stop when I moan at him that my chest hurts, I have cramp, my legs are tired, I can't breathe etc (although during our 10k when I actually couldn't properly breathe and had two panic attacks he was really supportive).

I gained a stone and a half in the past year and so far have managed to lose half a stone through healthy eating and exercise. My goal is to lose a further stone by my brother's wedding at the end of May, as I am maid of honour and want to be able to look nice in photos. Hopefully by keeping up my fitness and continuing to eat healthily my goal will be in reach!

P.S I have no photographic evidence of my run as I actually managed to detach my phone from my hand for once and left it behind to aid the running!

What it Really Feels Like to Have a Failed Marriage at 25....

I thought long and hard about writing this post. Who even reads the blog anymore? Would people be judging me, judging my choices, actions... Then I realised it didn't matter. I don't care. I am writing this blog, as always, for myself. It is better than attending counselling sessions as even in those I fail to be totally honest with myself. This blog has helped me through some really tough times in the past. Writing about my low times not only helps me to get past them, it also gives me something to look back to in the future to see just how far I've come.

When I first came back to writing in this blog again I felt ashamed and a bit of a fraud. I'd last written about how amazing my wedding day had been, following on from posts about my excitement for the big day, countdowns, bridal fittings, cake tastings etc. The truth is, I wasn't happy. Sure, I was excited. I was living out every little girl's dream. Getting married, having the fairy tale wedding we all dream of, and at the age of 24, I was ahead of my life plan. I spent so long building up this perfect ending to my story that everyone, even my closest friends and family, believed I was happy. The only person who saw through it all was my dad. And when he asked me, one summer day around 6 months before the wedding, whether I was truly happy, I lied. I knew it was a lie, but my pride prevented me from giving up this awful secret I had been keeping.

Tim and I met on a dating website back in 2011. Cameron had just turned one, I had just graduated from University and I was a single mother, jobless. I had friends who were single mothers as well telling me I would never find a man again, that no man wanted to take on the baggage involved with single mums, and that even if I found someone who wanted me, I would never find anyone good enough for me and my son. This negative frame of mind is what had forced me to look for a man when in truth it wasn't even a good time to be looking. I'm not going to try and pretend things were awful from the start. The hardest thing for people to understand is that it was never awful, even at the end. It just wasn't right. I wasn't truly in love and I wasn't truly happy. Tim was, and still is, a lovely person. He is kind and works hard to provide for his daughter. When we met I did feel something and so we started dating, and four months in, we made the somewhat silly decision to start trying for a baby.

I realised almost straight away that we had rushed into things. I wasn't sure I was ready to have another baby, and Tim and I still had things to learn about each other. However, we had managed to fall pregnant almost instantly, so as I grew used to doing, I pushed the doubts from my mind and tried to enjoy the pregnancy. I didn't realise how depressed I had been during this time until I watched back the documentary we had been filming for BBC3. Watching myself on screen and seeing the commentary spelling it out to me, I realised I had been barely there throughout. I had just been going through the motions. I wasn't happy.

When my brother and cousin both proposed on the same day to their respective girlfriends, I felt awful. I was happy for them both but I was also jealous. Shouldn't it be me, the eldest in the family, who was engaged first? My hormones took over and I ended up a sobbing mess. I believe this is what pushed Tim to propose when I was five months pregnant. I said yes. Of course I did. Remember, I was convinced that this was my happy ending. My prince charming saving me from a life of being a single mum. My knight in shining armour coming to my rescue. And I played up to this. It helped me to build up my perfect life over social media. I would get my happy ever after.

I don't mean to sound mean. And it wasn't like I was using Tim. I truly believed it was the right thing to do, after all, I was carrying his child. What did it matter if I wasn't 100% happy? I was somewhat happy, and Tim was happy. I threw myself into planning the perfect wedding. I was in my element. After all, this is what I dreamed of doing when I was able to go back to work. I had everything sorted a year earlier than I needed to, but I kept working at it, I felt such a desire to make everything perfect. We had some help from both sets of parents, and our wedding ended up costing around £5,000. And don't get me wrong, the wedding itself was almost perfect. Everyone had an amazing time. Due to careful budgeting, a lot of DIY and some special deals with suppliers, I ended up getting all I ever dreamed of for my big day. Except true happiness.

Looking back at photos, I can see it in my eyes and it makes me sad I didn't have the guts to stop it, to tell someone, anyone that it wasn't right, to not go through with something I knew wouldn't work out. As I have said, I had reservations from a long time before, but it was when my dad asked me that question in the summer before the wedding that I really started questioning what I was doing. I would lie in bed at night and think over and over about what I could do, if I could possibly stop everything now. I tried, and managed, to eventually convince myself that everything would be ok. Yes, maybe I wasn't 100% happy now, but things might improve in time. Tim loved me, he provided a stable home for our family and he cared about us all. And I did care about him. We argued but we did have good times as well. I pushed it to the back of my mind and again threw myself into all things wedding.

I had a hen party in the autumn and everyone was so excited for the wedding. I knew I couldn't back out now. My weight dropped, not just from my pre wedding diet but from the stress. I was still struggling with my emotions right up until the morning of the wedding. I joked about an ex boyfriend turning up at the church and trying to stop the wedding, but deep down I was wishing something would happen to put a stop to it, as I didn't have the guts to do it myself. I put a huge smile on my face and decided it was too late to do anything about it now. I was getting married so I would do it in style.

Looking back, there were so many bad omens on that day. The weather was awful. It didn't just rain, there was a storm which wrecked beach huts and blew the window of the neighbouring hotel in. The wedding car nearly didn't make it through the floodwater to get to the church and when we did arrive my mum hadn't made it to the church on time. Cutting the cake, the groom fell off, and nobody even picked him back up again. Tim and I didn't spend any time together the evening of the wedding, he was too busy getting filthy drunk and I was more interested in partying it up with my bridesmaids. During the speeches, Tim spent the whole time messing around with Carly and didn't even hear when people said things directly about him. One of the best men left straight after the food, and about 2/3 of the evening guests didn't even bother turning up. I got ketchup from my bacon roll all over the middle of my wedding dress, making it look like I'd been stabbed, and our last dance was to slap my bitch up.... Tim had to be carried to our honeymoon suite and then proceeded to throw up all over the bathroom and pass out. To be honest, I wouldn't have expected our wedding night to have ended any differently...

The next few months went by fairly quickly and I tried to enjoy my newly married life. I changed my name on everything but my passport in record time and booked our honeymoon to Ibiza in May to give us something to look forward to. We also took the children to Disneyland Paris for a couple of days a week after the wedding. These trips just proved how wrong me and Tim were for each other though.

In Disney, Tim took Carly back to the hotel room rather than stay and enjoy the rides when it started raining, and the only bit he seemed to take an active part in was in the evenings when we went to the all inclusive buffet. Back home, I started noticing all the negative things about him, and I became the nagging wife I never wanted to be. Because I wasn't happy, little things would be blown up and the arguments became more and more often.

In Ibiza, we should have been on top of the world, it being our honeymoon after all, but things just didn't go to plan. I ended up sacrificing nearly everything I had wanted to do and I was left in our hotel room whilst Tim went to watch a boxing match at a local bar one night. I drank to get over the fact that my honeymoon was nothing like I expected it to be, and so most of the holiday went by in a blur. I missed the children terribly and just didn't enjoy myself. Of course, the world of Facebook would never know any of this, to the people back home it looked like the perfect honeymoon complete with our own private rooftop garden and hot tub, amazing views and delicious food. Ah, the ability to show what you want people to see on the internet.

Back home again things went from bad to worse. I never liked the flat we lived in. I never saw it as mine either as Tim owned it. I was trying desperately to get a job and when I finally did in July, things just became clearer to me. I thought it was largely down to being stuck at home all day with the two children that I was so unhappy at home, but with the kids in nursery and working full time in a job I loved, I realised that it was my unhappy relationship which was pulling me down. I had started on antidepressants but my job gave me the boost I needed to come off them. It was with this clarity that I realised I really couldn't stay married, but I was still too scared to end things.

Tim and I had massive talks and twice tried to make a go at things, for the sake of the children being in a stable environment. I saw our friends' wedding in Cyprus as the make or break for us, as we were going without the children for a week. It would give us time alone to be able to work on things. The whole thing was a disaster though and all it ended up doing was showing me how bad things had become. Tim spent the whole trip drunk. He would wake up and pour himself a vodka. I told him I wanted to spend some quality time together but all he was interested in doing was getting drunk, partying and being one of the boys. He saw it as a break from his responsibilities, but I saw it as our last shot, and he blew it.

We barely spoke the whole holiday and, although I did enjoy aspects of the break, and found the wedding to be amazing, I was also dealing with the sinking realisation that my marriage was effectively over, only eight months after we tied the knot.

Back in England I had no idea what to do. I went on a night out with my work friend Sarah, and a guy from our office, Ed. They knew from me talking at work about what was going on, and both of them said I needed to end things if I was that unhappy but I still couldn't bring myself to do it. Four days later, the choice was taken out of my hands. Tim said he knew things weren't working, and he ended it. I put up no fight this time, I knew it was not right.

Things moved fairly quickly after that. Tim had said he wanted me to stay in the flat whilst I found somewhere else to live but I couldn't do it so I moved over to my mum's, originally with Cameron as there wasn't room for both of the children, but after a couple of weeks I needed to have Carly with me too so we all camped out over my mum's. It was a struggle and incredibly cramped.

I looked into things and we started proceedings. I found a house to move into and by December, we were not only separated but in the process of an annulment. I had started a relationship with Ed. This time I was truly happy, and it really does make a huge difference. Things have remained amicable between Tim and I. I didn't try and get anything from him, although he does pay child support for Carly.

Our annulment came through on Friday 27th February and our marriage was officially over, only just over a year after our wedding. People have been shocked, largely down to the fact that everything seemed perfect over Facebook. The truth is, you don't show the unhappy times to the world, only the happy snapshots. The hardest thing I found was people cutting me out due to our split.

I know that ending our marriage was the right thing to do. We are both so much happier now, as are the kids, as they aren't in an environment with arguments and tension. I try to not regret anything, hence the tattoo on my foot, but I do feel ashamed to have gone along with a relationship and a marriage that I knew wasn't right. I was a coward and I feel people are judging me for my actions. I try not to let it bother me but it still does. The hardest thing to come to terms with is that in the future when I get engaged and get married again, that there will be that thought in the back of everyone's minds. How long will this one last?

The truth is, having been through a failed marriage, I now know that I would never get into something for the wrong reasons again. I won't settle for anything less than 100% happiness and when I marry again it will be forever.

40 Things that Make me Happy

As I have depression, I try and focus on things that make me happy as much as I can. Sometimes even the simplest things can help. I started this blog post with the title 25 things that make me happy and had to adapt it, as it turns out a lot of things actually make me happy...

1. My children

Possibly an obvious one, but my kids can help bring a smile to my face simply by giving me a hug or a kiss or telling me they love me. I am incredibly proud of both of them.

2. Being in a happy relationship

This is hugely important to my overall happiness. My boyfriend Ed can make me smile even when I'm at my lowest. He knows how to cheer me up and just being with him makes everything so much better.

3. Chocolate

Cliché but for me chocolate is definitely high up there in the happiness stakes. Especially Lindor!

4. Boxing

I only started at the beginning of the year, so I'm not very good at it yet, but I find boxing is an excellent way to relieve stress and get fit at the same time. It's even better now Ed has got me and my sister Megan pink gloves to use in class- perfect!

5. The Beach

I am so lucky to live so close to the beach. When I am really stressed or depressed, just a quick walk along the beach listening to the waves crash can help cheer me up. In Summer there's no need to leave town either as we have beautiful beaches on our doorstep.

6. Christmas

I absolutely adore Christmas. It is easily my most favourite time of year , made even more magical since having children. I start getting into the Christmas spirit at the start of November and I love buying and wrapping gifts for other people just as much as I enjoy opening my gifts on Christmas Day. I love the Christmas Dinner. I love the songs and the decorations, our family traditions and having time off work to spend with my loved ones. Just perfect. Counting down already, haha.

7. Disneyland Paris

This is my happy place. A very expensive happy place, but my happy place nonetheless. I have been a fair few times but I can't get enough of it and would love to go again as soon as possible. I have been to Florida once but still prefer the Paris one, if only cos I'm terrified of flying! Disneyland Paris in Winter when it snows just makes it even more magical though.

8. Breaking Bad

I've been watching this from the start again with Ed and we are halfway through series 3. I love it and am just as obsessed and addicted as I was first time round.

9. Cheesecake

My love for Cheesecake grows daily. I must stop eating it so much though as I have gained a lot of weight in the past year, largely due to my love of this delicious dessert.

10. Cupcakes

Not surprising I've been gaining weight as another thing that makes me happy is cupcakes. I fell in love with the Yule Log cupcake Tesco did this Christmas. Fortunately for my waistline, it was a seasonal product, but I manage to find new favourites often.

11. Bucket List

Completing stuff from my bucket list makes me happy, even if I am scared at the time. Lately I have done a zipwire from the Pier and ridden a horse for the first time.

12. Fajitas (and Mexican food in general)

I love Fajitas and would eat them in every restaurant I went to if given the chance. I also currently love Strawberry Margharitas, which works well being a Mexican cocktail. Win, win!

13. Days out with the kids

Being a family and going out, even if just to the park, feels extra special now I am working full time. I always try and do something with the children on a Sunday and I love making memories with them.

14. Dreams

I am a born planner and I love deciding what I want to do in the future. I will eventually get to New York haha.

15. Glitter

I am such a typical girl. I love Pink. I love glitter. Add them together and I would be in heaven.

16. Pretty Things

Following on from pink and glittery things, I am also a sucker for pretty gifts. I love my Pandora charm bracelet, which was most recently added to on Valentines day with a gorgeous charm from Ed.

17. Dressing Up

I love an excuse to dress up, whether it's to go to a party or for a themed Murder Mystery night... I just love making the effort to look nice.

18. Family time

I love spending time with my family. We are very close and I feel I have a proper support network.

19. Friends (The TV show)

Friends never fails to cheer me up (apart from the episode where Ross & Rachel split up, that's just horrible and makes me sad). I turn to it when I am down, lonely or unwell.

20. Seeing the children Smile

This can instantly brighten up my day

21. Pizza

I love Pizza. A little too much... See comment above regarding weight gain and understand why...

22. Romance

I understand that girls are generally more romantic than boys. I am lucky to be with someone who is romantic. It doesn't have to be huge gestures, the little things really count. The surprise horse riding was pretty bloody amazing though. Just saying...

23. Prosecco

I never really drank this until my soon to be sister-in-law got me onto it and now it is my drink of choice on a night out. Not everywhere does it by the glass though, and I'm not quite rich enough to be buying it by the bottle so for these times I fall back to my good old friend Rose wine.

24. Selfies

I am the queen of selfies. I take them all the time. My iPhone camera roll is basically made up entirely of selfies. That and photos of my food... I'm not even ashamed.

25. Snow

I love snow. Unfortunately we rarely get any down south. This was taken on the one day this year that it has snowed, and it had cleared by lunchtime....

26. Sunday Lunch

I am a sucker for a good sunday lunch. I hate carverys though and much prefer either home cooked or a nice country pub lunch.

27. Sister

My sister and I weren't always close as there's quite a big age gap but in the last couple of years we have become much closer and I see her as one of my best friends. I am lucky to have her.

28. Sunny Holidays

I need another one of these soon! I love getting away from everything and having a cocktail somewhere hot and sunny. I really want to go to a Greek island next, and the Maldives, but may have to wait for a lottery win for that one.

29. Friends

I will admit, I don't have a lot of these. And some of the ones I do have are far away. I am lucky enough to have a 'work bestie' though who I have had some amazing times with in the past few months.

30. Sunrise

Self explanatory really.

31. Sunset

As above.

32. Tattoos

I love my tattoos. They all mean something to me. I do want more but I will stop after a couple more as although I have nothing against tattoos all over women, it is not something for me.

33. Winter Wonderland

Another happy place of mine. It's like Christmas all in one park. Love it!

34. Takeaway

I don't tend to have a lot of takeaways, fortunately or I would be the size of a house, but I love a good Indian when I am feeling low or lazy, or both. Perfect with a film and the boyfriend by my side.

35. Quotes

You may have already noticed this, but I love a good quote. I tend to find a lot that mean something to me. Sometimes I use quotes to let people know how I'm feeling as well.

36. Modelling

I used to model a fair bit and I loved it. Really want to get back into it as it made me smile.

37. Music

Music really can do the above. I love a good sing along to my favourite songs. Especially the Frozen soundtrack in my car. There is nothing that can't be fixed by a good sing along to Let it Go!

38. Fresh Bedding

I don't get round to putting fresh sheets on nearly enough. I love the feel of them and the smell of them. Everything just feels better when your sheets are fresh!

39. Easter Egg

I don't know what it is about Easter Eggs that somehow make chocolate taste even nicer... but they do... and I love them. Only had one so far this year, I need more!

40. Baking

I'm not brilliant at it, but I love to bake. It relaxes me and who doesn't love eating yummy homemade baked things?
