Guest Blogger Faye Talks us through the Top Make up Trends for Summer 2011

Firstly, I’d really like to thank fallenangel to yummy mummy for letting me guest post on her blog. I’m so so excited! My topic is ‘make-up’ so let’s get to it. As you all may know this season’s hot fashion look is colour blocking! There’s no exception when it comes to make up either!

                                                                        Product used
Face: Smashbox photo finish primer
M.A.C Studio fix foundation in NC40
Benefit Hoola blush
Eyes: M.A.C all that glitters – on lid
M.A.C Handwritten in the crease and outer V
M.A.C Phloof on inner corner
Eyeko graffiti eyeliner pen
Benefit Badgal mascara
Top lip: M.A.C Toxic Tale Lipstick
Bottom lip: Lime Crime Airbourne Unicorn lipstick
Nails: Nails Inc in Copacabana

If you haven’t already seen Lime Crime lipsticks, then I’ll let you know now that they have the most adorable packaging (see above) and the colour payoff is fantastic! I got mine here http://www.love-makeup.co.uk/lime-crime-candyfuture-lip...stick-selection-p-4656.html Lovemakeup also sell limited edition M.A.C and be rest assured everything they sell is completely genuine. The Lime Crime collection is fantastic for creating bright and bold looks.
Copacabana by Nails Inc is a special promotion colour, to retrieve it pop into your local big Boots store and pick up two Dove deodorants to be able to get one of two offer colours! One of them being this lovely bright coral called Copacabana.
So I have to admit this look is pretty unwearable unless you’re at a fancy dress/carnival/a complete dare devil. The inspiration for this look came from the Max factor quad advertisement with Marina and the diamonds. It was really fun to re-create.

A more wearable way of colour blocking is to do a contrasting eye and lip as seen below, I have to admit this one is also pretty daring! It goes against everything you’ve ever been taught about makeup!

For this look I’ve keep the cheeks neutral with benefit Hoola. For the eyes I used Tigi eye talk expose in a metallic blue all over the lid and lined my water line with Maybelline eye pencil in Emerald. I then used M.A.C Chatterbox for the lips. I kept the same nails in Copacabana.
Lovemakeup also sell Nyx and even at as little as £2.99, you still get really good pigmented colours, which will help you to create this look.

These colours can be purchased from:

An even more wearable way of embracing this season’s make up trend is to colour match/colour clash your lips with your nails. The rest is left neutral which creates a modern look.

My colour matches include:

Eyeko coral polish or Nails inc Copacabana with M.A.C Toxic Tale or Barry M sunset

Avon Pout lipstick or M.A.C crème cup with Rimmel Rose Libertine 60 second nail polish

M.A.C Ruby Woo with 17 fast finish nail polish in knockout red

For girls that really can’t do colour you’ll be pleased to know that a fresh neutral face is also the trend this summer.

For this look i used:

FACE
Mac Studio fix fluid in NC40
Mac Sheer loose powder in NC40
Mac Dainty blush
EYES
Mac Painterly paintpot on base
Mac All that glitters - over the top of painterly on base
Mac - Handwritten on crease and outer V
Bad girl Mascara
LIPS
Boujour Sweet Kiss
Good kits to create neutral eyes that I like are Big beautiful eyes by benefit and Urban Decay Naked palette.
Benefit Big beautiful eyes set

Swatches from the set:

The Urban Decay Naked Palette:

Swatches from UDNP in order Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, and Buck, Half baked, Smog, Darkhorse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep, and Gunmetal

For a neutral cheek I would suggest benefit hoola or Elf bronzing duo
And for a neutral lip to suit most skin tones i’d suggest M.A.C Creme ‘d’ nude or GOSH Darling.

I really hope you enjoyed reading this and thank you to fallenangel to yummy mummy!
